Treating the Detested Dandelion!

Dandelions are one of the most detested weeds for a pristine lawn owner.  Dandelions have bright yellow flower heads that eventually develop into a seed head.  The seeds are attached to the fluffy white hairs, which allow the wind to carry and spread the seed. You might recognize this stage of the dandelion as the white puffballs you once blew in the wind to make a wish as a child.

The dandelion is a common broadleaf weed that can survive many environments, making it a challenge to successfully exterminate them.  Dandelions are also considered a perennial weed, which means it will return year after year if you don’t treat and remove it.  Even if you manage to remove dandelions from your yard, their seeds, which are light enough for wind to carry, can spread across your entire yard. Dandelions, like any other weed, will push out the grass around it and absorb the moisture in your yard, causing your grass to not get enough water.

Dandelions are definitely a nuisance to your lawn. Call the professionals at Lancaster Lawn & Landscaping, LLC if you don’t want these yellow and white puffballs to overrun your green lawn.
